Fans of The Voice want “one more night” with Adam Levine and Blake Shelton - and they got it. Well, sort of. Viewers who watched the Season 27 premiere of the NBC singing competition show Monday were in for quite a surprise when the retired coach made a return to the show in a stealthy way.

Original Voice coach Adam Levine was back in the famous red chair alongside returning coaches John Legend and Michael Bublé and brand-new coach Kelsea Ballerini. The four showed a competitive spirit right from the very start when 20-year-old Grace Miller Moody from Florence, South Carolina, kicked things off with a bang.

When Levine spoke further about his return to The Voice, he shared that it’s already “really great to be back” after he had a much needed break. Levine had been on the show for sixteen seasons over eight years when he left and he’s enjoyed spending more time with his family, going on tour, and making music.
