Louisville, Kentucky, changes its immigration detainer policy following DOJ warnings, with Mayor Craig Greenberg agreeing to extend notice periods "from 5-12 hours to 48 hours" for federal authorities.

The DOJ said Louisville's jail wasn't holding inmates in custody for up to 48 hours on “immigration detainers.”

While Louisville has had the same policies in place for years, the city was only recently designated a "sanctuary city" by the federal government.
