On Monday, the Kings made another key decision regarding their final open roster spot as they came to terms with a three-point sharpshooter. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Kings are signing Doug McDermott to a one-year, $3.6 million contract.

McDermott, a former lottery pick, enters his 12th NBA season. He played a limited role for the Kings last season, getting into just 42 games and averaging just more than eight minutes in those games, while averaging 3.5 points a night. His value comes as a shooter, as he hit 43.6% of his 3-pointers last season.

So far this summer, the Kings have added two young players in Nique Clifford and Maxime Raynaud in the 2025 NBA Draft to upgrade their depth. They also landed Dennis Schroder in free agency in a sign-and-trade deal with the Detroit Pistons and it appears as though Schroder will be their starting point guard next season.
