The Yankees' sketchy pitching plan backfired Friday night, and now they need to scramble again to cover themselves. According to The New York Post’s Joel Sherman, the team is designating reliever RIco Garcia for assignment after Thursday night’s bullpen scramble in Atlanta.
ATLANTA — Yankees designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton flashed an eye-squinting big ‘ole smile hearing Aaron Judge was at it again during the captain’s Sunday post-game interviews, first with the YES Network’s Meredith Marakovits on the field and then with the beat writers at his Truist Park visiting clubhouse locker.
The Yankees trailed 5-0, 7-2 and 8-7 but came all the way back, helped by two home runs by Anthony Volpe and one by Cody Bellinger.
With the promotion of Sandy León from Triple-A Gwinnett, the Atlanta Braves now have three catchers on the roster — Sean Murphy, Drake Baldwin and León.
