SIA has agreed to return its Airbus A340-500 fleet to the European manufacturer as part of a new $7.5 billion deal to acquire five more A380s and 20 additional A350s.

Airbus launched the A330 and A340, with the latter taking its first maiden flight in October 1991. The plane was subsequently certified in December 1992, taking off for commercial use in March 1993.
