Sinopec discovered Xinxing and Qintong shale oil fields in eastern China with combined proven reserves of 180 million tonnes.
"The discovery proved the largest clastic whole oil field in the northern part of the South China Sea in terms of geological reserves, breaking through traditional theoretical understanding," he said.
The Huizhou 19-6 field has now been shown to have over 100 million metric tons of oil equivalent of proven in-place volumes.
