By the time Viserys dies, both Aegon II and Rhaenyra have children of their own. Furthermore, some of the Targaryen children are finally coming of age, making them players in the war themselves.

Resolving the issues between Rhaenyra and Alicent should fall to King Viserys, but the king was, is, and will probably be forever uninterested in managing the consequences of his actions.
