This swamp chestnut oak is one of three giant trees within 50 yards of each other in Huntley Meadows Park in the Alexandria area. The others are a pin oak and another swamp chestnut oak.
However, the marshy land is still key to the Oak Island mystery, and the guys haven’t given up on it. “In order to finish this quest, we have to finish the swamp,” said Marty Lagina.
Later in the episode, the team received the results of some carbon dating tests they’d ordered on a couple of the swamp items, and, excitingly, they were dated from approximately 1680 to 1750.
