A developer reported the scam after noticing a slight discrepancy in the email address. The scam passed Google’s own DKIM checks.

Firstly, Google is adding new protections against scam texts, especially those that initially appear harmless. Google Message beta users will have access to an enhanced scam detection, which offers improved analysis of “scammy texts, starting with a focus on package delivery and job seeking messages.”
