GHENT, W.Va. — The unseasonably warm temperatures won’t stop Winterplace Ski Resort in Raleigh County from holding its 40th anniversary celebration this weekend.

Winterplace is opening earlier than expected after several inches of snow blanketed the area. At least 14 trails are expected to be open to skiers Saturday.
