Although viewership rose 89% for the Skills Challenge and 3-Point Contest this year, many fans took exception with ESPN celebrating the 158% increase in viewership from 2023 to 2025. The common consensus being that ESPN purposefully did so to ignore the decline in views, and attempted to mitigate just how important Clark is.
Host Elle Duncan had a unique way of describing the lack of defense in the WNBA All-Star Game Saturday night on ABC. “We hope it gets a little bit more competitive. Because like a girls’ trip to Cancun, right now, there’s no D,'” Duncan said during the halftime show as Napheesa Collier’s team led Caitlin Clark’s team 82-60.

ESPN posted an image comparing the viewership numbers of the 2025 All-Star game with the numbers from the 2023 All-star game. What is interesting to note here is that in 2023 Clark did not play the game and therefore the numbers were low. The correct approach would have been to compare it with last year’s game when Clark did play.
