Thousands of spectators lined up along the race route to cheer on more than 30,000 runners at the 129th Boston Marathon.

The Boston Marathon had about the same number of no-shows as last year, dispelling concerns that international runners would skip the race in the face of increased U.S. border scrutiny.

John Korir joined his brother as a Boston Marathon winner on the men's side, while last year's runner-up Sharon Lokedi set a course record for women.
