Columbia University has reached a more than $200 million agreement with the Trump administration to resolve multiple civil rights investigations, clearing the way for the reinstatement of millions of dollars in federal research funding and ending a months-long impasse that had rattled the Ivy League school’s finances and leadership.

Columbia University's agreement to pay more than $220 million to the U.S. government to resolve federal probes was not capitulation but a means to restore vital public funding, the university's acting president said on Thursday.
