Byfield's growing importance is an emerging storyline for a Kings team desperate to climb into the Stanley Cup contender discussion.
Quinton Byfield recorded four assists to lead the Los Angeles Kings' 5-2 comeback win over the visiting Vegas Golden Knights on Monday.
Byfield has gone from a 12-game goal drought to a three-game goal streak with his latest performance. He put the Kings up 3-0 early in the second period off a feed from Kevin Fiala. Byfield now has 14 goals, 37 points, 122 shots on net, 64 hits, 32 PIM and a plus-8 rating across 62 appearances in a middle-six role this season.
Kings hold off Golden Knights
In the interim, over the past few weeks, the Kings have seen a mix and match on the top line, with the duo of Kopitar and Kempe cycling through wingers. It seems the Alex Turcotte progression had come to a full stop. All signs pointed out that it could be the winger causing a production stoppage, and as it turns out, that was not the entire clause.
