The Avalanche welcome back a former goalie tonight at Ball Arena. There are a lot of talks that both Mikko Rantanen and Brock Nelson could be traded. Also, the Devils announced that they’ve lost their star center for the year amid a flurry of trades around the NHL.

Georgiev will be between the home pipes against the Islanders on Saturday, per Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now. Georgiev was blitzed for seven goals on 32 shots in a loss to the Avalanche on Thursday.

Before his return to Denver, Alexandar Georgiev opened up about his December trade from the Colorado Avalanche. In a candid one-on-one with San Jose Hockey Now, Georgiev talked about his frustration with Avalanche management losing faith in him before the trade,

Georgiev allowed four goals on 31 shots en route to a 4-2 defeat.

Georgiev will guard the visiting crease in Montreal on Thursday, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports. Georgiev is mired in a six-game losing streak, allowing 26 goals on 197 shots (.868 save percentage).

Cole Caufield scored at 3:21 of overtime to give the Montreal Canadiens a 4-3 win against the San Jose Sharks at Bell Centre on Thursday. Caufield dragged the puck between his legs to get around Macklin Celebrini in the left face-off circle before shooting over Alexandar Georgiev’s right pad.

Georgiev took a second straight loss, though this was better than the seven goals he allowed to the Avalanche on Thursday. The 29-year-old netminder will continue to struggle to win behind a team that took another step toward a youth movement at the trade deadline.

The Colorado Avalanche came into the season with championship aspirations and Alexandar Georgiev as their top goaltender.

Georgiev made 20 saves in a 6-2 win over Buffalo on Tuesday. Georgiev started for the second-straight game with Vitek Vanecek backing up for trade related reasons. He made 25 saves in a 3-2 shootout win over Toronto on Monday.

Georgiev stopped 25 of 27 shots in Monday's 3-2 shootout win over the Maple Leafs. Georgiev gave up two goals in the second period, though both came in the power play, but he was excellent the rest of the way.
