The Red Wings (30-25-6) have lost three in a row in regulation for the first time since a four-game slide from Dec. 20-27, but they maintain the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference with 66 points. Alex Lyon made 28 saves, including stopping Taylor Hall’s penalty shot with 4:38 remaining in regulation.

DETROIT (AP) — Jordan Martinook had a goal and an assist, and the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Detroit Red Wings 2-1 on Tuesday night. Jordan Staal also scored for Carolina in its third win in four games. Frederik Andersen stopped 24 shots.
