The British-made Typhoon looks set to end the long-running saga to acquire new fighters for the Turkish Air Force.

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Turkey and Britain on Wednesday signed a preliminary agreement for the sale of Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets to Turkey, a significant step in Ankara’s efforts to modernize its air fleet.

Negotiations on the potential deal with Turkey will continue in coming weeks, the U.K. government said in a statement.
