Rishabh Pant's retirement through injury slowed India's progress on day one of the fourth test against England, with the tourists closing on 264-4 in their first innings as they look to keep the thrilling five-match series alive.

Fast bowler Akash Deep will be unavailable for the fourth test against England in Manchester, India captain Shubman Gill said on Tuesday, with right-arm quick Anshul Kamboj likely to make his debut. India drafted Kamboj into the squad on Monday with Nitish Kumar Reddy ruled out of the rest of the tour with a knee injury and fellow seamer Arshdeep Singh unfit for the next test.
