Attorneys for William McNeil Jr., 22, say he’ll be joined by family and community members for a news conference Wednesday morning.

The violent arrest of William McNeil, Jr., a 22-year-old Florida man, by Jacksonville sheriff’s deputies was caught in a viral video and prompted an investigation.

McNeil’s attorneys suggested they believe it’s possible the State Attorney’s Office may have ignored that evidence and deferred to the body cam footage and official reports, which fail to show or make mention of the first strike to McNeil’s face.

William McNeil Jr. and his attorneys claimed he experienced fear during a violent traffic stop by Jacksonville police.

William McNeil Jr., 22, who was arrested in Jacksonville in February, shared his story for the first time at a news conference. It comes after hearing his arresting officers will not face any criminal charges.

"Without even knowing any of the facts, I just know how this stuff works," Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Wednesday during a press conference in Jacksonville.
