New Secretary of State Marco Rubio told China's foreign minister on Friday that the U.S. would put the American people first and promote U.S. interests in its relationship with Beijing.

Marco Rubio, the head of American diplomacy, had his first conversation with his Chinese counterpart, Minister Wang Yi, the State Department has reported. Rubio emphasised that the USA will be guided by the principle of "America First" and declared support for US allies in Asia.
