Painted Mountain corn is an open-pollinated variety and can be purchased from Territorial Seed Company, Johnny’s Seeds, Baker’s Heirloom Seeds and other seed companies.

Kutka is working with another corn breeder, Dave Christensen, to breed the pollen-blocking trait into a Painted Mountain Corn variety that grows in the harsh dry mountainous regions of the West.

This year's harvest at Knife River Indian Villages National Historic Site includes corn, squash, tobacco and sunflowers, much of which will be shared with tribes in North Dakota.
