Wall Street inched lower as uncertainties brought by U.S. President Donald Trump’s latest tariffs lingered, threatening to upend markets’ bid for a positive week.

US stock futures edged lower as Wall Street continues to grapple with President Trump's escalating trade war. Stocks have had a rollercoaster of a week, starting off on a high on hopes that Trump would temper his tariff plans and then abruptly diving on Wednesday upon news of new duties on auto imports.

Tariffs are typically bad news for the economy and stock market. "They raise prices, slow economic growth, cut profits, increase unemployment, worsen inequality, diminish productivity and increase global tensions," according to David Kelly, Chief Global Strategist at J.P. Morgan.
