As hapkido has a very impressive array of strikes, once could certainly use forms as a means of teaching them, though I do not feel that adding forms would enhance the teaching of strikes in hapkido personally. Some guys just like forms.

Jul 5, 2003 · The Korea Hapkido Federation recognizes some 74 different Kwans, or schools, of HKD. Traditionally the art has no hyung; but there are minor training "forms". Some instructors have added forms, which does not, in my mind, detract from their legitimacy. Personally, I think that Hapkido has plenty to learn without adding the study of forms.

I personally still do and teach the forms that were taught to me, and required by me for grading, that I learned while training in Korea. The forms I do and teach were influenced by Kwanjangnim's training in Whshu and Qigong along with his HKD training.
