Victor George Atiyeh (/ ə ˈ t iː j ə /; February 20, 1923 – July 20, 2014) was an American politician who served as the 32nd Governor of Oregon from 1979 to 1987. He was also the first elected governor of Middle Eastern descent and of Syrian descent in the United States.

Atiyeh was defeated in the gubernatorial election of 1974 but won election four years later against incumbent Robert Straub. As governor, he improved statement management and reformed workers compensation. He also established special programs for public safety in Oregon’s fishing and lumber industries.
