Romania took off the Communist symbol from its flag in 1990 after gaining independence after being a puppet of the USSR. Chad recoloured the French flag in 1959 to use as their own, original flag. After the fall of the Socialist Republic in 1989, Romania re-adopted the plain tricolor it had used from 1866-1948. Chad argues it shouldn’t have to change its flag just because Romania adopted the same flag 30 years after Chad, while Romania argues it used the design starting in the 19th century, before Chad existed as a sovereign state.

The idea is very cool, but the big problems in my opinion are the colour scheme which didnt quite fit and the complexity of the coats of arms. If you're going for an intentionally complex flag that would be ok. I just think you should maybe try using other colours (the colours of the current romanian flag perhaps, as a suggestion)

Jul 30, 2022 · Romanian flag and chad flag uses the same tricolour. Socialist romania used to have the CoA defacing the tricolour. After the revolution in Romania, the CoA was removed. Since then they both have similar tricolours as flags.
