Organosulfate - Wikipedia
In organosulfur chemistry, organosulfates are a class of organic compounds sharing a common functional group with the structure R−O−SO− 3. The SO4 core is a sulfate group and the R group is any organic residue. All organosulfates are formally esters derived from alcohols and sulfuric acid (H2SO4) although many are not prepared in this way.
A Comprehensive Approach to the Synthesis of Sulfate Esters
Jan 13, 2006 · A comprehensive approach to the synthesis of sulfate esters was developed. This approach permits the direct and high-yielding synthesis of protected sulfate monoesters. Subsequent deblocking to reveal sulfate monoesters is accomplished in near-quantitative yield.
Sulfate - Wikipedia
The sulfate ion carries an overall charge of −2 and it is the conjugate base of the bisulfate (or hydrogensulfate) ion, HSO − 4, which is in turn the conjugate base of H 2 SO 4, sulfuric acid. Organic sulfate esters, such as dimethyl sulfate, are covalent compounds and esters of …
Sulfation made simple: a strategy for synthesising sulfated …
We report the development of a tributylsulfoammonium betaine as a high yielding route to organosulfates. The optimised reaction conditions were interrogated with a diverse range of alcohols, including natural products and amino acids.
Riding the sulfur cycle – metabolism of sulfonates and sulfate esters ...
Apr 1, 2000 · Appropriate sulfate-limited (but not growth-limited) conditions can be provided by supplying the cell with sulfur in organically bound form, e.g. sulfonates, sulfate esters, methionine, sulfamates (R-NHSO 3), organosulfides (R-SS-R′) or thioethers (R-S-R′), in the absence of inorganic sulfate.
Esters, Sulfate Esters, Phosphate Esters, Thiophosphate Esters, …
Sulfate esters, phosphate esters, and thiophosphate esters are derivatives of sulfuric acid, thiosulfonic acid, and phosphoric acid in which S may substitute for O and organic groups may substitute for H.
As in the case of sulfonate esters discussed in Sect..12.2 of this chapter, there is a strong tendency for sulfate diesters of aliphatic alcohols to react with CoO bond cleavage.
Riding the sulfur cycle – metabolism of sulfonates and sulfate esters ...
Apr 1, 2000 · Sulfonates and sulfate esters are widespread in nature, and make up over 95% of the sulfur content of most aerobic soils. Many microorganisms can use sulfonates and sulfate esters as a source of sulfur for growth, even when they are unable to metabolize the carbon skeleton of the compounds.

May 28, 2024 · This chapter is organized on the basis of a classification of sulfonate and sulfate esters according to the nature and number of the alcohols from which they are derived. In the case of the sulfate esters, the reason for this mode of organization is obvious.
