If you look at the history of the Hudson Bay axe produced from the 1920's to the present, you will see the shape of the head evolve to what it is today. Some prefer the somewhat exaggerated beard of the Council, others claim such a pronounced beard can result in a fracture if the head is torqued.

"Buffalo skinners" were usually very thin blade, with a very curved blade 4"-6" with rather blunt point. Bark River makes a good looking "Hudson Bay" blade, btw.

I' m highly sceptically for these two " artisans " and I don' t think, that these blankets are really handwoven, at least not in a way, you might think of " handwoven " and I doubt, one of them would make you a blanket with your own specifications.

Oct 19, 2023 · Folks, I know there are some real experts out there on Hudson Bay blankets in this forum...I have a wierd one here passed down from my grandparents (they were from Canada, so guessing they purchased there as new..). It is a gold 4 point blanket with no header/stripe. The points are also clearly not dyed in a separate color.
